CCL 71-150

Four CCL (Coupled Cavity Linac)  modules accelerate the proton beam from 66 to 150 MeV. Each module is powered by a single 10 MW klystron.

CCL structure has been commonly diffused for proton and electron linac since 70’s. For protons it becomes practical above some tens of MeV. It is composed of single cell accelerating cavities coupled by side coupled off axis cavities. Several fabrication modalities have been developed throughout these years, that give rise to less or more efficient as well as less or more difficult to fabricate structure.

In this part of the linac the energy is varied pulse by pulse in a range between 85 and 150 MeV, by switching off the last modules and varying the electric field amplitude in the last module on.
