Radioprotection

The ENEA radioprotection unit takes care of several plants in ENEA Frascati research centre  among which the accelerator one (Building. 30)

Radiation is monitored by a number of neutron and gamma cameras

tabella

An environment radioprotection network is active and being upgraded with several active and passive motitor devices

Passive monitors are integrating dosimeters for x and gamma radiation of TLD (thermoluminescence) type, read by the Enea Bologna lab.

Active monitors are of two main types: four ionization chambers and five neutron detectors

There are also portable monitors for gamma radiation (Victoreen mod . 471), as well as portable detectors for neutrons of the type rem -counter , to be used for manual mappings or similar

Verification of proper operation of the instruments (fixed and portable monitors)  is done at least twice a year.
